Teen Hit by Car in Jurupa Valley Dies in Hospital

The Coroner's Office Saturday identified a 16-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a moving sedan at a Jurupa Valley street near an elementary school.

He was Riverside resident Rodolfo Magdaleno, according to the Coroner's Office.

Deputies dispatched at 6:42 p.m. Friday to Pyrite Street near Glen Avon Elementary School, just south of Mission Boulevard, found Magdaleno with life- threatening injuries, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jerome Porterfield.

Paramedics rushed him to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the sedan was heading north on Pyrite Street when the pedestrian walked in an eastbound direction, across the street, Porterfield said. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Deputies asked anyone who saw what happened to call the sheriff's Jurupa Valley station at (951) 955-2600.

Tragic! Was this in a crosswalk area or jaywalking?

My heart goes out to the family. We live right where this occurred. I just wonder why there were patrol cars racing up and down the streets and why was the sheriff helicopter flying overhead. We thought there was a manhunt going on and later were told there was a traffic collision. RIP Rodolfo
