for story update.

A pedestrian was struck several times and killed on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway this morning, shutting down traffic for hours.

The crash, just south of Railroad Canyon Road, was reported at 3:22 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to an officer at the scene, the man was hit "multiple times."

Traffic in all lanes was stopped and a SigAlert was issued, with debris scattered in at least two lanes, the CHP reported.

CHP officers were trying to get passengers vehicles off the freeway one exit before Railroad Canyon while investigators tried to work out what the man was doing on the freeway, the officer told Patch.

Big rigs were not allowed to move however, and remained stalled on the freeway, the CHP reported.

Thank you Megan. He DID buy a Wii as a christmas gift for his father. Josh was one of my sons life long friends who didnt need to knock or ask for food before hitting my fridge. He was one of the family. I just learned that all the boys have been crossing there for 10 years so it was a learned(bad) behavior that took his life. I hope you all remind your loved ones that speed/spatial interpretation/depth perception of even the most expedienced person can be altered by darkness/too much light/weather etc. So its always better to think twice before walking, running, biking etc across any path. Ever. Blessings and healing love pours out of me to Josh, his family and friends, and the poor innocent first driver who was brave and caring enough to stop. All the other cars, if they realized what they'd done can burn in hell for eternity.

I think it was misunderstood how I worded that. The reason I put (supposedly) is just because that was the generalized story I heard. That was not a degradation to anybody, I was focusing on the fact the freeway is not for walking across, ever, and people need to realize that. Vehicles going at a high rate of speed cannot stop fast enough sometimes, even when reacting to the best of ability. Again, very sad for many, but crossing the freeway on foot is not only dangerous, it's illegal for a reason.

And, of course, my heart goes out to family/ friends of this young man, including him himself...just bad judgement.

What kids r crossing there? Ok well we need to get that stopped Josh may have just saved another kid from crossing there. So sad Did this young man have services yet? How is his family? I know his friends are all taking it badly everyone has so much good stuff to say about Josh it would be sad to hear they didnt get a proper goodbye. Why not a follow up on this?
