PHOTOS: Pets Evacuated During Jurupa Valley's Mission Fire

The following comes from John Welsh, senior public information specialist for Riverside County Animal Services. He is talking about the life-saving efforts of pets during today's Mission Fire in Jurupa Valley that destroyed 40 vehicles, four homes, and much more. Here are his own words:

We responded to the fire [in Jurupa Valley] this afternoon (Jan. 14) with three officers and helped with the evacuation of 14 pets, including those from a family whose home was destroyed. A Shar Pei mother and her five puppies are included in the 10 dogs that we transported to our main shelter.

Four dogs were already returned to their rightful owners after emergency workers allowed those people back into their properties.
