Police Ask Public's Help In Finding Woman Who Struck Boy

The 16-year-old boy is in critical condition, according to a Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputy.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is reaching out to residents across the region, asking for their help in finding the driver who struck a boy with her vehicle and left him laying in the road.

The incident was reported at approximately 7:38 p.m. Monday in Palm Desert on Deep Canyon Road, just north of Fred Waring Drive.

“The vehicle struck the pedestrian and proceeded northbound on Deep Canyon Road and failed to stop at the scene,” said Deputy Albert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The 16-year-old boy, who was walking on Deep Canyon Road, is in critical condition, Martinez said.

The car’s driver is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 30 years old, 5’6”, 150 pounds, with black shoulder-length hair

The suspect vehicle is a white two-door compact. The make and model are unknown; it’s believed to be manufactured after 2000.
