UPDATED: Missing Corona Woman Found In Orange

UPDATED DEC. 4: A Corona woman reported missing after she failed to return home from work Monday was located today in Orange, disoriented and apparently suffering from amnesia, according to her eldest son.

"The police found her. She didn't know who she was, or where she was," Josh Warwick, 34, told City News Service. "They couldn't tell us what had happened to her."

He said his 54-year-old mother was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital of Orange for further evaluation and treatment. He, his father and other family members were waiting to see her.

According to Corona police Sgt. Kim Velasco, Jane Warwick was found around 2 p.m. The circumstances were not immediately clear.

Velasco issued a statement earlier today saying that detectives did not suspect foul play in connection with the woman's disappearance, without elaborating, adding that detectives were "actively investigating" and "exhausting all leads."

Detectives were apparently able to "ping" Warwick's Verizon mobile phone to narrow down her location.

Josh Warwick told CNS that the family initially felt investigators were not taking the case seriously, but were relieved when detectives in both Corona and Orange County today began "ramping up" efforts to find her.

The mother of two was dropped by her husband, Steve, at the North Main Corona Metrolink station around 5:40 a.m. Monday for her daily trip to Buena Park, where she works for an insurance company.

According to Warwick, security camera surveillance video obtained from the commuter rail service confirmed that his mother boarded the train. But where and when the 5-foot-4, 95-pound woman disembarked remains a mystery.

"She usually takes the bus from the train station to work, but if she misses the bus, she walks, and it's not a great area," Warwick said Tuesday night.

According to the south Corona resident, the roughly two miles to his mom's office takes her from the Metrolink station at Dale Street and Lakeknoll Drive, south to Artesia Boulevard, west along Artesia, underneath the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, then south along Knott Avenue, ending at Knott and Village Drive.

Warwick said his mother was carrying a backpack with personal belongings and trailing a wheeled briefcase containing her laptop computer.

There were no red flags until 5:30 p.m. Monday when Steve Warwick arrived at the Corona station to pick up his wife. Josh Warwick said his father waited two hours -- until the last train arrived -- before realizing something was wrong.

ORIGINAL POST DEC. 4: A Corona woman who vanished two days ago after boarding a train bound for Orange County is not believed to have been the victim of a crime, a Corona Police Department spokeswoman said today.

"We have no reason to believe that foul play was involved here," Sgt. Kim Velasco told City News Service regarding the disappearance of 54-year-old Jane Warwick. "We are actively investigating the incident. Our detectives are exhausting all leads. But all we know is she got on the train. We don't know about her departure (from the train)."

Velasco could not confirm whether detectives had succeeded in obtaining GPS coordinates from Verizon Wireless to identify where Warwick's mobile phone was last active, which requires a search warrant.

According to Warwick's eldest son, Josh Warwick, investigators informed the family that attempts had been made to "ping" his mother's cell phone, but no further information had yet been disclosed to the family.

"It took a little while to get the ball rolling, but the investigation is ramping up," Warwick, 34, told CNS. "We were a little discouraged at first because it didn't seem like they were taking this seriously. But they're following up, according to them."

He said he traveled the route his mother would've taken and spoke with conductors, bus drivers and anyone else who might have seen her, but no clues have turned up.

"We're just waiting by the phone, hoping she's all right," he said.

Efforts to ring her mobile phone have proved fruitless, with calls going straight to voicemail.

Jane Warwick stands 5-foot-4, with a slender build, brown eyes and long brownish-blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a dark hoodie jacket and black jeans.
