Details:

On Friday, October 14, 2011, detectives from the Lake Elsinore Burglary Suppression Team were conducting follow up in the area of North Lake / Windjammer, in the city of Lake Elsinore. While leaving the area they noticed a maroon-colored 2004 Hyundai (4-door) vehicle driving in the neighborhood.

The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Joseph Suide of Perris, was acting suspicious by stopping and slowing in front of residences. It appeared Suide was unfamiliar with the neighborhood based upon his driving actions. Detectives followed Suide in an unmarked vehicle until he stopped in front of a residence and parked. Detectives contacted Suide and learned he was on parole for armed robbery. Detectives also noticed a large amount of metal objects stacked inside Suide's vehicle, upon further questioning Suide admitted to detectives that he was in Lake Elsinore to steal items to scrap for cash. Suide led detectives to a residence in the 3300 block of Driftwood Drive in the city of Lake Elsinore where Suide admitted to stealing the metal objects (residential air filters) from the front yard of a residence with the intent to scrap. Suide was arrested for theft and a parole violation and later booked at the Southwest Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information about this incident, or any other criminal activity in Lake Elsinore is encouraged to contact Detective Callahan or Detective Kent at the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300 or after hours and on weekends at (951) 776-1099.
