The Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) completed a long-term investigation into allegations of students selling illicit drugs on the high school campuses of Vista De Lago High School, located in the City of Moreno Valley, and Elsinore High School, located in the City of Wildomar.

During the course of the investigation, various illegal narcotics were seized, including marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and illegal prescription drugs. The investigators identified 24 students, 12 at each school, who were involved in illegal drug sales and obtained arrest warrants for the narcotic violations.

On Thursday, December 8, 2011, the investigation concluded with the arrest of 23 of the 24 students for the narcotic-related arrest warrants. During their arrests, 7 juveniles were found in possession of illegal contraband ranging from a switch-blade knife, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and hydrocodone. The juveniles were transported to Juvenile Hall and booked for their outstanding warrants and any additional narcotics charges stemming from today's operation.

Assisting the Riverside County Sheriff's Department with the arrests were members of the Southwest Corridor Narcotics Task Force (SWCNTF), West County Narcotics Task Force (WCNTF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), station personnel from the Moreno Valley and Lake Elsinore Police departments and the District Attorney's Office who obtained search warrants and filed petitions in juvenile court.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is committed to providing students with a safe, drug-free environment and encourages everyone to report illegal drug activity to their local police and sheriff's stations.

The primary source of the data was through records contained within the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Data Warehouse program and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
