Details:

On September 27, 2011, at approximately 9:30 a.m., detectives from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to 16800 block of Ulmer Street, Lake Elsinore to contact a potential suspect involved in a fraud. Upon arrival, detectives contacted Kevin Harrison, 41 years of Lake Elsinore at the front door of the residence. It was determined that 41-year-old Tiffany Fryer of Lake Elsinore, a potential suspect in the fraud, was also inside the residence.

Fryer exited the residence and was interviewed on the front driveway to the home. During the interview it was determined Fryer was the primary suspect in the fraud investigation and was taken into custody. Detectives also decided to secure the residence pending a search warrant for any potential evidence related to their investigation.

Upon learning that Fryer was taken into custody and that a search warrant was to be served on his residence, Harrison stated he would not remain outside and ran to the front door of the home. Fearing for their safety that Harrison would destroy potential evidence or arm himself, detectives attempted to detain Harrison. Harrison was able to enter the residence and attempted to slam the front door to the location. Investigators were able to stop the door from closing and a short struggle ensued in the entryway of the residence. There were two large dogs inside the residence when the altercation ensued and advanced aggressively on both detectives. Harrison was released and ordered to contain the now-aggressive dogs.  Detectives immediately backed outside of the residence to the front lawn as the larger of the two dogs charged the detectives. Fearing for their safety, one detective fired his service weapon killing the dog. The other animal was contained by Harrison. The deceased dog was taken from officers by Animal Friends of the Valley.

A search warrant was served at the location and additional evidence related to the forgery investigation was located. Harrison was taken into custody for 476 PC-Forgery, 11377 H&S-Possession of Methamphetamine and several outstanding warrants. Fryer was taken into custody for 459 PC-Burglary, 476 PC-Forgery and 11377 H&S-Possession of Methamphetamine. Both subjects were booked into the Southwest Detention Center pending a criminal filing with the District Attorney's Office.

Anyone with further information about this incident, or any other criminal activity in Lake Elsinore is encouraged to contact Detective Seckinger at the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300 or after hours and on weekends at (951) 776-1099.
