On Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10:58 p.m. Lake Elsinore Police Officers responded to the 33000 block of Windward Way, Lake Elsinore, in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon call. The victim, a 38-year old male repossession agent, went to the address to recover a vehicle. The victim knocked on the front door and the suspect; later identified as Carlos Sanchez (34 years old, from Lake Elsinore) opened the front door to the residence and produced a black semi-automatic handgun. The suspect then pointed the handgun at the victim's chest and told him to leave. The victim left the area and called 911.   The officers went to the address to contact Sanchez. The officers used the public address system from a police vehicle to contact Sanchez and requested he exit the residence. Sanchez complied and was safely taken into custody. A 9MM handgun was recovered inside the residence. Nobody was injured in this incident.   Sanchez was booked into the Southwest Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon. Indecent Exposure / Annoying Children under 18 Years

Details:

On September 29, 2011 at about 7:20 AM, patrol deputies were dispatched and responded along with school resource officers to an indecent exposure call that occurred at a bus stop in the area of Laguna Ave. and Riverside Dr. in the unincorporated area of Lake Elsinore. A white male subject was seen walking toward a bus stop where he stopped, pulled down his shorts exposing his genitals to a group of school age children and then fled on foot.

There were two adults that witnessed the incident and provided information about the possible whereabouts of Johnson. Deputies searched the area and located the suspect, Robert Dirk Johnson of Lake Elsinore, inside a house in the 15000 block of Darnell Dr. Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station for further investigation and later booked at the Southwest Detention Center on charges of indecent exposure and annoying children under 18 years.

At the conclusion of the pursuit and officer involved shooting, the two occupants of the stolen vehicle were detained for further investigation. The driver was later identified as Jose Edwin Gomez, a 20-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. The passenger was later identified as Gustavo Alexander Martinez, also a 20-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore.

Jose Gomez and Gustavo Martinez were arrested and later booked into the Southwest Detention Center for the following violations: assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading a peace officer resulting in injury, resisting a peace officer resulting in injury, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Details:

On September 30, 2011 at approximately 1:44 AM the California Highway Patrol (CHP) became involved in the pursuit of a stolen vehicle at the request of the Ontario Police Department. The CHP assumed control of the pursuit on I-15 southbound near the city of Norco. The pursuit terminated on I-15 southbound just south of Railroad Canyon Road in the city of Lake Elsinore. As the pursuit concluded there was a collision involving two CHP vehicles. One officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. At the termination point there was an officer involved shooting; there were no injuries as a result of the shooting. The suspects were then safely taken into custody at approximately 2:08 AM. The CHP personnel involved in the pursuit consisted of a sergeant with 21 years of experience and two officers with 4 years of experience each with the department. The names of the CHP personnel are being withheld at this time. The injured officer received medical treatment and has been released. The identity of the suspects is still being determined. More information will be released as it becomes available.   The Riverside County Sheriff's Department will be conducting the investigation into the shooting.
