On Sunday, September 04, 2011, officers were dispatched to a reported vessel collision on the water in the area of Grand Ave & Pepper. Boat patrol officers arrived on scene within minutes and located a white 25' vessel partially sunken with the bow sticking out of the water. The three persons who were in the vessel had been recovered from the water by other passing boaters and were uninjured. Investigation revealed the boater operator, David Blackwell of Norco, was traveling along the south shore portion of the lake when he lost control of the vessel which flipped sideways ejecting Blackwell and his two passengers.

All three were immediately recovered by other boaters in the area. Officers determined Blackwell was under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested for boating under the influence. The vessel was recovered and removed from the water.

Anyone with further information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Officer Constantin at the Lake Elsinore Police Department at 951-245-3300.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department would like to remind all boating enthusiasts; boating and alcohol don't mix. Alcohol impaired boating can lead serious injuries and deaths on the water. The Lake Elsinore Police Department is committed to working aggressively to reduce the incidence of needless tragedy that accompanies any alcohol related collision.
