Details:

On Monday, February 13 2012, at 10:11 P.M. officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a report of an injury traffic collision in the area of Railroad Canyon Road east of Grape Street in the city of Lake Elsinore.

The ensuing investigation determined a white Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound on Railroad Canyon Road, lost control and collided with a power pole. As a result of the collision, power was interrupted for a short time and the westbound lanes of Railroad Canyon Road were closed for approximately three hours. Southern California Edison personnel responded to the location, temporarily secured the power pole and re-routed power to the affected areas. The driver and sole occupant of the Suburban was taken to the Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment and was admitted for observation.

It is believed that alcohol consumption was a factor in this collision and the investigation is ongoing.

Additional repairs to the power pole will occur on February 14, 2012 and will affect the number two lane of traffic on the westbound portion of Railroad Canyon Road.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department would like to thank the citizens that provided statements for this incident and anyone with additional information can contact Officer Williams at the Lake Elsinore Station 951-245-3300 or Central Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
