On March 13, 2013 at approximately 1:00 AM, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries while in surgery. The identity of the victim is being held until the next of kin is notified.

Details:

At 8:28 PM, officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on Grand Avenue at the intersection of Shoreline Drive, in the city of Lake Elsinore. Responding officers arrived at 8:31 PM and located the pedestrian in the roadway, receiving care from the involved driver. The pedestrian suffered multiple serious injuries. He was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center by responding paramedics, and was rushed to surgery. The pedestrian, a male in his late fifties, is not yet identified.

The driver rendered medical aid to the pedestrian at the scene and offered full cooperation with investigators. The driver was later released from the Police Station.

The roadway was partially closed for the investigation across all lanes and is scheduled to be re-opened at approximately 3:00 AM.

Time:

Incident Date:

Thursday March 15, 2012

Time:

Incident Location:

Lake Street North of Lakeshore Drive, Lake Elsinore

Reporting Officer:

Sergeant Marc Cloutier, 951-245-3300

File Number(s):

L120750040

Details:

At 10:59 AM, officers were dispatched to a vehicle collision on Lake Street just north of the intersection with Lakeshore drive. A motorist, later identified as Michelle Dawson, age 32 of Lake Elsinore, left the roadway and collided with an Edison service pole. The force of the collision downed the pole and resulted in a loss of power to approximately 1600 residents. Edison crews were able to restore power around 10:00 PM on the same day. Lake Street was closed across all lanes initially for public safety due to downed live electrical wires. The roadway was partially reopened a short time later.

Dawson was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription medication.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department urges all drivers who require prescription medication to be very cognizant of the warnings provided by the drug manufactures related to operating heavy equipment or driving motor vehicles.

The department also recommends candid discussions between drivers and their prescribing physicians about the possible side effects of pain killing medication and muscle relaxing medication, upon the ability to safety operate a vehicle.

Anyone with additional information regarding this event is encouraged to contact the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300, or after hours and weekends by calling (951) 776-1099.
