Update:  The suspect in this case succumbed to his injuries late Friday afternoon, June 17, 2011, in the hospital. He is identified as Arturo Fernandez, a 20-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore.

 

Details:   On June 17, 2011, an officer from the Lake Elsinore Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Toyota Tundra truck after observing the vehicle operating in violation of the California Vehicle Code. The driver of the truck yielded in the 16300 block of Clement Street in Lake Elsinore.

Immediately after the officer exited the patrol vehicle to contact the driver, the suspect started the vehicle again and attempted to strike the officer with his vehicle. The suspect rammed the police car and attempted to ram the officer with his vehicle, which caused the officer to fire his duty weapon at the suspect. The suspect was struck by the gunfire and was injured.

The Riverside County Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived within minutes and provided medical care for the suspect. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is currently receiving medical care. Investigation later revealed that the vehicle driven by the suspect had been reported stolen out of Lake Elsinore.

Detectives from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Central Homicide Unit and the Lake Elsinore Police Department reported to the scene and assumed the investigation. Per Department policy, the officer involved in the incident has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Details:

On Friday, June 17, 2011, at 9:55 PM, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a single vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle on Railroad Canyon Road between Grape Street and Church Street.

Preliminary investigation revealed a motorcyclist traveling eastbound on Railroad Canyon Road lost control of the motorcycle he was driving and was ejected off the motorcycle. The driver, a 50-year-old male from Homeland, sustained fatal injuries as the result for the collision. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of this collision is still under investigation. Railroad Canyon Road was closed from Grape Street to Canyon Hills Road for approximately five hours as a result of this collision.

Details:

On June 20, 2011, at 8:40 PM, an officer from the Lake Elsinore Police Department was flagged down in reference to a possible domestic violence incident in the 30900 block of Riverside Drive, Lake Elsinore. A witness identified a suspect and victim to the officer in a parking lot at the location.

The officer made contact with the suspect, who is described as a Caucasian male adult. During the contact, the suspect became combative and attempted to disarm the officer. This caused the officer to draw her service weapon and fire at the suspect. The suspect was injured in the altercation and medical personnel were summoned to the scene.

The Riverside County Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived within minutes and provided medical care for the suspect. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is currently receiving medical care.

Details:

Mid-afternoon on Sunday June 19th, 2011, members of the Riverside County Sheriff's Fugitive Warrant Enforcement Team as part of the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, successfully arrested 28-year-old Ignacio Villa-Villasenor for an outstanding felony warrant issued out of the District of Idaho, Idaho. Villa-Villasenor was wanted for conspiracy to distribute quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana, and distributing methamphetamine.

Villa-Villasenor fled the state of Idaho to avoid apprehension and sought refuge in the city of Wildomar. Villa-Villasenor was successfully apprehended at a residence in the 24000 block of Raymond Street, in Wildomar, without incident. Villa-Villasenor was booked in at the Southwest Detention Center.
