Police Chase Leads To Arrest In Temescal Canyon Area

Ryan Hastings, 22, of El Cerrito was arrested Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of stolen goods. A third suspect, Stephen Stubbs, 30, of El Cerrito remains at large.

A police pursuit that traversed the Inland Empire and ended in the Temescal Canyon area just outside Lake Elsinore has led to an arrest and the recovery of stolen property.

Ryan Hastings, 22, of El Cerrito was arrested Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of stolen goods. A third suspect, Stephen Stubbs, 30, of El Cerrito remains at large.

The chase began around 5 a.m. when deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station investigated a vehicle theft in the 30000 block of Via Bonica in an unincorporated area outside Lake Elsinore.

Approximately one hour later, ONSTAR notified the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department that the vehicle was in the area of Grand View Drive near El Cerrito.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station responded and located the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued.

The pursuit entered the city of Corona, and the Corona Police Department took over.

The suspects eventually drove to the area of Dawson Canyon and Temescal Canyon, where they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Deputy Mix from the Lake Elsinore sheriff’s station located one of the suspects, Hastings, who was in a getaway vehicle with his girlfriend, Heather Foot, 27, of Rancho Cucamonga.

Mix arrested Hastings, who was on parole and in possession of items belonging to the stolen vehicle. During the search, items related to a separate vehicle burglary that had occurred in the city of Lake Elsinore were also found.
