UPDATED: Police Seek Alleged Shooter

Jovanni Martinez, 21, of Riverside is wanted in connection with the shooting.

UPDATED at 4:45 p.m. June 17: Police have now identified the man a suspect in the Mead Valley shooting that allegedly took place early Saturday morning.

Jovanni Martinez, 21, of Riverside is wanted in connection with the shooting, and police have released his photo (see attached).

According to a report from Sgt. Ken Zunker of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called around 1:50 a.m. Saturday to the 21800 block of Oakwood Lane in the unincorporated area just east of Lake Elsinore.

“Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a male, in his early 20s, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” Zunker’s report read. “The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening wounds.”

Witness's described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age, 5'5" tall and weighing about 150 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. The suspect was seen leaving the area in a brown, newer model, Jeep Cherokee with brown wheels.
