Police Seek Suspect Who Allegedly Killed 77-Year-Old Woman

Authorities today disseminated a photo in hopes of tracking down a man suspected of killing a 77-year-old Hemet woman in a hit-and-run collision last week.
Salvador Almanza, 47, of Hemet is wanted in connection with the July 6 death of Ervina Keller.

According to Hemet police Lt. Dean Evans, detectives identified Almanza as the man allegedly at the wheel of a green Ford Windstar minivan that struck Keller in the middle of the afternoon near the intersection of Acacia Avenue and Thompson Street.
The 13-year United Way volunteer died at the scene.

Based on witnesses' statements, Hemet police officers fanned out, looking for the minivan, which was found abandoned not far from the location of the hit-and-run, according to Evans. The driver had fled the scene on foot.
Almanza is described as 5-foot-5 and 135 pounds, with tightly cropped gray and black hair and tattoos on his arms and chest.
