Prescribed Fire Scheduled Thursday

Local residents may experience drift smoke.

Expect smoke from the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve Thursday.

A Cal Fire controlled burn is scheduled Thursday in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy and the California Department of Fish and Game.

The Plateau burn is scheduled to begin around 6:30 a.m. and conclude by noon, according to a Cal Fire news release.

"The plots being burned are a component of evasive weed eradication on the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve," the release stated.

The operation is expected to utilize Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire engines and Cal Fire Conservation Camp Fire Crews.

Residents in the La Cresta, Bear Creek, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore and other surrounding areas may experience drift smoke, the news release stated.
