The 15-year-old was arrested after fleeing through a back yard when a resident returned home Friday afternoon.

A 15-year-old that was reported as a runaway on Christmas Day was arrested Friday afternoon after a home was burglarized in Lake Elsinore, according to police.

A resident in the 31600 block of Saddle Ridge Drive arrived home around 3:37 p.m. Friday and saw an intruder inside the house, who fled through the back yard and over a fence, according to Sgt. David Cardoza. A back door to the kitchen had been damaged.

Officers responded, including a K9 unit and helicopter support, and established a perimeter. The suspect was spotted in hills behind Saddle Ridge Drive and taken into custody after a foot chase, according to Cardoza.

Officers found property stolen from the home and property stolen from another home that was burglarized in the 31600 block of Boulder Vista Drive. The items were returned to the homeowners.

No one has even stated the fact he had 5 knives, a combat bow and arrow on his back and drugs. He trashed the one house with $25,000 of damage and stole $50,000 in jewelry. He will get out I am told like a slap on the hand. This is the reason they are repeat offenders! They don't make them accountable! What about the victims and what they go through. It is not fair this kid will get out and do it again or next time hurt himself or someone else.
