Runaway Juvenile Suspected of Burglarizing Lake Elsinore Home

The 15-year-old was arrested after fleeing through a back yard when a resident returned home Friday afternoon.

A 15-year-old that was reported as a runaway on Christmas Day was arrested Friday afternoon after a home was burglarized in Lake Elsinore, according to police.

A resident in the 31600 block of Saddle Ridge Drive arrived home around 3:37 p.m. Friday and saw an intruder inside the house, who fled through the back yard and over a fence, according to Sgt. David Cardoza. A back door to the kitchen had been damaged.

Officers responded, including a K9 unit and helicopter support, and established a perimeter. The suspect was spotted in hills behind Saddle Ridge Drive and taken into custody after a foot chase, according to Cardoza.

Officers found property stolen from the home and property stolen from another home that was burglarized in the 31600 block of Boulder Vista Drive. The items were returned to the homeowners.

The suspect was arrested for two counts of burglary and taken to Riverside County Juvenile Hall in Temecula. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 245-3300, or after hours at (951) 776-1099.
