Senior Citizen Injured In LE Crash

The 61-year-old woman apparently lost control of her sedan and it overturned several times.

A 61-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries today when her car went over the side and 92 feet down a ravine, fire officials said.

The crash on Railroad Canyon Road, near Church Street, was reported at 1:13 p.m., according to Melody Hendrickson.

According to witnesses on scene, the motorist was traveling east on Railroad Canyon when the Toyota sedan struck a rock retaining wall and then veered across the westbound lanes and overturned.

The car overturned a number of times before ending up on its wheels down the embankment, witnesses told Patch.

"We're coming around the corner here, and we see this lady hit the right shoulder. Then she hit the center divider and went over the side," said Lysa Venti, 48, of Canyon Lake.

"'Oh my God, how many people were in the car,' was my first thought.
