Sheriff's Department Seeking Female Deputies To Join Ranks

As part of its efforts to recruit women, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department is hosting a March 2 "Fitness Challenge."

Officials with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department say the agency is working very hard to recruit women into its law enforcement ranks.

“The Riverside County Sheriff Department has numerous opportunities for women interested in serving in law enforcement,” said sheriff’s department spokesman Cpl. Angel Ramos. “Women interested in joining our team will find an environment that is personally rewarding, promotes team work and offers the opportunity for rapid advancement.”

To that end, on March 2 the department is hosting a “Women’s Fitness Challenge” for females 18 and over who are interested in a career as a deputy sheriff or correctional deputy.

The event scheduled for 7 a.m. at Palm Desert High School will offer techniques to be successful in the physical assessment/agility testing process required of all potential deputy hires, Ramos explained.

The March 2 challenge will consist of push-ups, sit-ups and a 1.5-mile run. For those who pass the standards, it will count as the physical assessment/agility requirement of the application process.

“Sheriff Stan Sniff, Undersheriff Colleen Walker, Lieutenant Cheryl Evans, and other women of distinction within the Department will be available to answer questions for the participants. Also in attendance there will be a vast array of department members from specialized teams/units. These members will be available to provide further information of what our agency has to offer,” Ramos continued.

For more information, call 888-564-6773 or email hrsheriffrecruiter@rc-hr.com. All participants must bring a valid ID and wear appropriate fitness attire. No children or spectators will be allowed.
