UPDATED: Smoke Coming From Fire In Winchester

Crews battled the blaze reported at 1:15 p.m. in the 28300 block of Patterson Avenue.

UPDATED AT 3:55 p.m.: A brush fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in Winchester damaged several outbuildings and sent smoke across the east-lying areas of Southwest Riverside County.

Crews battled the blaze that was reported at 1:15 p.m. in the 28300 block of Patterson Avenue.

According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann, there were no reports of injuries. Several sheds were destroyed and one dwelling sustained approximately $10,000 of external damage, Hagemann reported. It's not immediately known what the buildings were being used for.

As of 3:10 p.m., the blaze was 75 percent contained and firefighters held the burn to "three to five acres," Hagemann reported.

Fire crews are expected to be on scene through the evening, Hagemann said.

The California Highway Patrol did not report any immediate road closures.

The blaze, dubbed the Patterson Fire, required 70 firefighters, including the Riverside County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Support Unit.
