UPDATE: Smoke From Nearby Fire Visible In Lake Elsinore

UDPATE 7:31 p.m.: The Perris brush fire that sent smoke toward Lake Elsinore Monday afternoon has been contained.

The 40-acre blaze that broke out shortly before 4:30 p.m. today on the west side of the 215 Freeway, south of 4th Street, was contained around 6 p.m., Cal Fire reported.

Two handcrews were requested for mop up, which is expected to last until later tonight.

There were no reports of injuries or structure damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
