Taggers Arrested In Lakeland Village

The arrests are part of an effort to crack down on graffiti vandals.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station has released more information about graffiti vandal arrests.

Four juveniles and one male adult were collared late Tuesday afternoon in Lakeland Village for allegedly tagging property in the area of Akley and Gillette streets.

On June 26, Benjamin Correa, 18, was arrested and booked into Southwest Detention Center for misdemeanor vandalism. He has since been released but is due to appear in court Aug. 29.

Police are withholding the juveniles’ names.

Some good jail time, nice fine and a whole lot of community service will work for these kids. Oh and if they dont have money for fine, then just add more community service at least a year for 1'st offense.

......and their parents need some parenting classes because clearly they have failed! I work with HS kids every day..........we actually had a mom making a scene in the office because her son was being suspended for tagging. She was yelling and arguing that her son had a right to grafitti the school because she pays taxes which pay for the school!

I agree, put these kids out there in 100+ degree weather, wearing one of those black hoodie sweatshirts they seem to love and let them paint every fence, building, dumpster and so on in this town that has been tagged.

the 26 year old role model should take responsibility for this and all future infractions by these individuals. after all he taught them and he knows better.

I dont think parents should be accountable for these kids vandalizing, most of the time they're hard working parents that are busting their behind to put food on the table and pay their rent and bills. These kids take advantage of that so they make stupid decisions unless its a parent like the 1 that went to the school thinking its ok for her son to do that, then by all means get em 2! And have them do community service along with their kids.

Yes our school keeps track (pictures etc) of every tag at our school then we are all alerted to look for these tags on backpacks notebooks etc.... and we have a Police Officer on campus.

Sorry if you have kids you need to be responsible for their actions...................teach them to respect other people and property and themselves. We all work hard I have 4 kids mine would never do something like this-but if they did I would accept the consequences and my child would understand that this is not OK! Tired of paying for other peoples failures as parents!

Painting over graffiti never hurt anyone, so perhaps the parents should be there painting right along with them. That would leave quite an impression and maybe the parents would step up their supervision. Every Friday/Saturday night, our area gets tagged. It's painted over by the city and shows up again within a couple of weeks. Tagging is part of gang-banging. If they weren't in gangs, they wouldn't be tagging. Parents need to be involved with their kids and have them home at night.

If my 19 year old did this and got caught, he is toast. I have already told him if you ever break the law, don't call me because I will not bail you out. Do the crime, do the time.
Mr.A June 29, 2012 at 09:37 AM
I hear u "N1smo2go" And I hope it never happens 2 U, but if it did do you think you should be punished for a bad choice your son made? And I'm pretty sure you're a good parent that teached your son right from wrong, but if he chooses to do something wrong I don't think you should be punished for it. As for "Kaleen Itup" I hope it never happens to u either but if it does I guess we'll see u paying for your kids bad choices.

Yes Mr. Arellano parents should be held accountable for your childrens actions and if you cannot then don't have them............this is whats wrong with these kids the parents don't take responsilbility if they are truly bad bad kids then I would put them in a military school! 3 of my kids are all of age in college and are responsible productive members of society............my youngest is 17 and on his way to college not a great chance of him destroying/vandalizing the surrounding area - because he is not left to do whatever he wants, while whoever is raising him is to busy to do the job that is most important!

I still don't think so. I learned right from wrong from my parents telling me. Didn't mean they had to be in my face about it or stop me from living my life by bugging me or having them up my ass..lol! But Nobody's an angel we're all human and we all make mistakes I just think its up to you if you wanna keep making them or not, and if you do prepare yourself for some consequences! Not your parents, You! Thats what life is about, live and learn if we choose not to learn then we'll pay... But glad to know your kids all went to college! My kids are still small but learning bout right from wrong without me drilling it to them 24/7. Its good to let them be free and live their lives but always concience about life and the beauty of it. God Bless..

I work in the schools and you can almost always tell the children who come from parents who understand the value and importance of their childrens lives compared to the ones who just let them do what they want and are not really involved and just HOPE it all works out............

I see one girl almost everyday who comes to school -we watch her ditch (can't stop her and I think the admin has realized it is not cause or time effective to chase her because mom excuses her truancy)- the mom comes and says oh my daughter is out sick today. Oh really? I just saw her at the coffee shop with her friends that graduated last year and have nothing to do but cause trouble and vandalise other people property. Irresponsible parents are so frustrating and these kids will suffer eventually!

So what happens if the kid has the best, most upstanding parents in the world & the kid still succumbs to 'other kids' peer pressure?
Kaleen Itup July 04, 2012 at 05:35 AM
They are still your kids! Pay for them or turn them over to the courts or send them to military school!
Cat July 04, 2012 at 06:22 AM
With ya on the other points but I don't think that the parents should actually pay to clean up their kids messes. I think if that kid had to actually work & pay it off for himself then it would be a much more poignant lesson. You know how kids are with their own money.
Debra Haynes September 29, 2012 at 09:40 AM
Parents are responsible for what there kids do. If you raise them right they won't get into trouble. My parents were strict and taught us to treat people the way you want to be treated. I never got into any trouble. There is no discipline these days. If they destroy property make them pay back the damages or put them in jail.
Pedro November 13, 2012 at 07:26 PM
Why u guys sayingshit about my brother it's not vandalism it's art parents don't get it they think it's all bad but it aint
DB December 04, 2012 at 08:03 PM
Hey Pedro, maybe it's art in Mexico...in America it's vandalism if it's applied to someone else's private property including the city. Perhaps you and your brother should bring your car to my house and let me paint it for you with whatever I choose! Although I would imagine if your intelligence level leads you to believe this is art, you most likely are not smart enough to have a car or know how to drive........
