A resident is warning the community to be on alert for a gasoline thief who struck at her family's Lake Elsinore home Tuesday night.

According to Thalia Castellanos, the crime occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Oakview Way, where her parents reside.

The thief -- or thieves -- siphoned nearly a full tank of gas from her father's work van parked in the family driveway.

"They created a mess outside our home," Castellanos said. "Never in over 10 years ... [has] something happened this way! We are now getting cameras outside our home because they really stole our peace of mind."

Castellanos explained that her brother went outside the house at around 11 p.m. and discovered the crime.

"He really wishes he would've gone out 30 minutes earlier -- he probably would've caught them in the act," she said.

Police have been notified of the theft.

Don't be rude "dog". Some people need their gasoline. And it is a big deal if it is happining to more people now they know they are not the only ones.

Maybe they just borrowed the rake and plan on returning it when they move back to the ghetto were they came from. Try not to be so negative right away and calling them a rake thief. Think positive that their just trying to keep up your property value by keeping up the appeearance of theirs. They just took the rake out of concern for you. Be sure to leave your lawn mower out where they can easily borrow it also in case they need to cut their lawn to keep up with the neighbors.
