Police arrested three men in Wildomar today on weapon possession and other charges.
Lake Elsinore police received a tip at 3:17 a.m. of a man sitting in a car holding a gun near Malaga and Wildomar Roads, according to a news release.
When an officer attempted to stop the car at Valley View in Winchester, the front passenger jumped out and fled, Sgt. David Sanches announced in the release.
Police set up a perimeter around the location and called in a Riverside County sheriff's dog team to locate the runner.
Justin Denhoed, 20, of Lake Elsinore, was found hiding in a backyard on Wildomar Road. Police also picked up a small handgun during the search.
After piecing together the evidence, officers arrested two other Lake Elsinore men: Herbert Brown, 33, and Chase Cardwell, 24.
Denhoed was booked on charges of parole violation, illegal possession of a firearm and resisting a police officer.
Brown was booked for possession of a deadly weapon and parole violation. Cardwell was detained on an outstanding DUI warrant.
