The crash was reported at 2:55 p.m. Sunday at Nichols Road and Collier Avenue, just north of the outlet center, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Two vehicles slammed into each other today near a Lake Elsinore intersection, trapping an occupant who firefighters later freed, a spokeswoman said.

Firefighters used a hydraulic tool to pry open one of the vehicles where the occupant was trapped during the collision that erupted Nichols Road and Collier Avenue, just north of the outlet center, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

Dispatchers received a call at 2:55 p.m. of the crash. The unidentified occupant was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of what Hendrickson said was moderate injuries.
