Trial For Murdered Pastor's Son Sees Another Delay

Today's continuance was one of many in the case.

The trial of three San Diego men accused in the at a Temecula bar has been delayed again until Sept. 17.

Judge Angel M. Bermudez issued the new date today at the request of the defense. The motion was not opposed by DA's office.

Matthew Alexis Basler and James Wing Fung, both 32, and Marvin Justin Black, 27, are charged in the Dec. 26, 2008, stabbing death of Chapman University student Ryan Joshua Armstrong, 22, and the attempted murder of his friend, Joel Ross, in an alley behind E.T.'s Bar in Temecula.

Armstrong's father, Ron Armstrong, founded Cornerstone Community Church in Wildomar.

Following a two-day preliminary hearing that began Dec. 12, Judge Freer ruled that a trial was warranted. A weapons allegation was added against all three defendants, who are also charged with assault with a deadly weapon to produce great bodily injury.

Basler and Fung are additionally charged with trying to prevent a witness from testifying, and all three men have alleged prior strikes.

Today's continuance was one of many in the case.

This. Is ridiculous they didn't give the victim a chance to defend himself!! When they killed him why should they be granted another delay???Oh, that's right they have rights and can put off their punishment.

I'm thinking once they are in prison doing their time that should get rid of their pittiful smirks. Hope they get what they deserve

Pastor Ron has strength and character in so many ways. I can't wait for the day his family feels the closure they deserve.

From the looks of their facial expressions(smirking) they don't really mind being in prison. All three have already served time in prison. So, to say 'hope they get what they deserve' doesn't really mean what you might think it means.

I think it is very sad. The only one that looks sad is Marvin Black...I hope he gets out like he should. He didnt kill anyone. For the guy out of them three who is not Marvin need to seek his lifetime punishment and take the blame for what he did by choice. Its not right for marvin to suffer for something he didnt do. They need to really look at where he was and what he was doing.
