Triple Stabbing Suspect Could Face Death Penalty

William Gary Simpson Jr., 19, accused of killing one girl and seriously injuring two others, will face a judge Wednesday.

Triple-stabbing suspect William Gary Simpson Jr. is set to be arraigned on murder and attempted murder charges at 1:30 p.m Wednesday, officials announced today.

Detectives determined Simpson was the suspect in a .

Simpson allegedly snuck into their Milkwood Lane home, where he had been allowed to live for several months in 2010, Riverside County District Attorney Spokesman John Hall said.

The district attorney has filed charges of first-degree murder with special circumstances of killing while commiting a burgularly and two counts of attempted murder against Simpson, Hall said.

The suspected killer could face the death penalty if convicted.

"A decision whether to seek death will be made by District Attorney Paul Zellerbach at a later date," Hall said. "If death is not sought, Simpson would face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, if convicted as now charged."

Simpson was by Murrieta police detectives and members of the Pacific Regional Fugitive Task Force, which is comprised of personnel from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the Riverside County District Attorney's Office and the state Division of Parole Operations.
