Lake Elsinore Woman Tied To Alleged Theft That Caused $1 Million In Damages

6/14 UPDATE: Two people police say were involved in the below metal theft case were not booked, but instead were cited and released. Malinda Taylor, 46, of Lake Elsinore, and Nichole Gimple, 28, of Hemet, were both cited and released.

6/13 ORIGINAL POST:Five people are behind bars today – including two women from Lake Elsinore -- on suspicion of stealing metal from a vacant Corona business site.

Lake Elsinore residents Shanna Postin, 50, and Malinda Taylor, 46, were both behind bars today, along with Kris Elliot, 56, of Murrieta; Leonard Green, 51, of Hemet; and Nichole Gimple, 28, of Hemet.

The five are accused of causing damages in excess of $1 million, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Running a check of the property in the 14900 block of Concordia Ranch Road on Sunday afternoon, deputies came across the three men and two women who were allegedly removing metal from the site, sheriff's Sgt. Ken Chaffin said.

“Several metal buildings located on the vacant property were severely damaged by vandals unlawfully removing metal from the structures to sell as scrap,'' the sergeant said.

Deputies took all five people into custody, but Sgt. Chaffin said two of the suspects -- he did not specify which ones -- were believed to be responsible for the majority of metal stolen. –City News Service contributed to this report
