Weekend Lake Elsinore Crashed Caused by Sleeping Driver, Police Say

A motorist dozed off behind the wheel of a pickup truck, which crossed into opposing traffic and sideswiped two oncoming vehicles in Lake Elsinore, a sergeant said this weekend.

Dispatchers received a call at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and sent sheriff's deputies to the corner of Riverside Drive and Collier Avenue, who learned the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado truck fell asleep while traveling south on Riverside Drive.

"The driver fell asleep at the wheel, crossed over into oncoming traffic and sideswiped two vehicles, including a silver Infiniti G20 sedan and a black Ford F150 truck," sheriff's Sgt. Chad Loeffler said.
