Wildomar Dad Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Endangerment

Clayton Chavez, 26, was booked into Southwest Detention Center at 12:26 p.m. Saturday.

A man believed to be living in a Wildomar garage with his 1-year-old baby was arrested Saturday on suspicion of possessing narcotics, being under the influence of drugs, and child endangerment.

The man, identified by police as Clayton Chavez, 26, was booked into Southwest Detention Center at 12:26 p.m. Saturday following his arrest earlier that morning, according to jail records.

His arrest came after officers from the Wildomar Police Department received information regarding adults and juveniles living in a detached garage of a home in the 32000 block of Central Street.

“The information concerned illegal drug use possibly occurring at the location," according to a report from Sgt. Chad Loeffler.

Once police arrived, they found Chavez and his 1-year-old baby.

“Officers conducted a thorough search of the location and found narcotics and narcotics-related paraphernalia,” the sergeant reported.

According to the report, Chavez was on probation for previous crimes.

Chavez remains at Southwest Detention Center in French Valley with no bail set for him. He is due in court Nov. 6. The baby was turned over to Child Protective Services.
