He alleged that Jones also broke into a nearby trailer and stabbed a couple's dog before retreating and burglarizing a storage shed attached to another mobile home.

Jones allegedly stole the 80-year-old victim's 1995 Toyota Camry after trying unsuccessfully to break into a car at an adjacent property.

The elderly woman was discovered by neighbors, who called 911. The victim, who remains hospitalized, is listed in stable condition, authorities said.

Police agencies throughout Southern California began looking for the stolen car, and around 2 a.m. Tuesday, law enforcement officers with the Inland Regional Apprehension Team located the vehicle and Jones in Wildomar.

According to Amador, the defendant attempted to flee, triggering a brief chase during which she crashed the Camry and took off on foot. She was quickly located and arrested without a struggle, Amador said. --City News Service
