Woman Stabbed In Her Lake Elsinore Home; Transient Suspect Arrested

According to a Lake Elsinore Police Department report, Richard Martinez, 57, was arrested for the stabbing that took place in the 200 block of Riley Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A transient was arrested this morning for stabbing a woman several times in her Lake Elsinore home.

According to a Lake Elsinore Police Department report, Richard Martinez, 57, was arrested for the stabbing that took place in the 200 block of Riley Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived at the residence, they reported finding a woman with several stab wounds to her upper torso.

According to the victim, who has not been identified, she was inside her residence when confronted by a man who demanded money. When she refused to comply, the man stabbed her.

She was subsequently transported to Inland Valley Hospital. Her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, according to the police report.

During the course of the investigation, officers named transient Martinez as a suspect. He had fled the crime scene, but by 6:10 a.m. officers located him in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Manning. He was taken into custody and booked at Southwest Detention Center without incident, according to the police report.
