Woman Struck, Killed Crossing Street in Mead Valley

The driver of a sedan apparently failed to see the victim and ran into her.

A 52-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car Thursday as she crossed a roadway just west of Perris.

Margaret Gasaway of Perris died around 3:10 a.m. when she was hit while crossing Cajalco Road at Brown Street, in an unincorporated community known as Mead Valley, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.

The driver of a sedan apparently failed to see the victim and ran into her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics minutes later, according to county fire officials.

The California Highway Patrol was handling the investigation.

Most people have family, but I was told she was homeless. Is that true? Why was she walking at 3:00am?

Gina, I am so sorry for your loss. My information was, as I said from someone I know who knows the gentleman who was in the accident. And, obviously I was asking if it was true. Believe me, this poor guy is suffering. Again, my true condolences to you and the rest of the family.
