A motorist led CHP officers north on the south side of the Corona (15) Freeway into Lake Elsinore at speeds of up to 100 mph before the truck crashed today, officials said.
The driver was behind the wheel of a white Ford F-150 north on the southbound right-hand shoulder as it traveled through Lake Elsinore, where it crashed at Third Street about 1:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The southbound side of the freeway was closed while the CHP investigated the crash, the CHP reported.
The suspect suffered head injuries and chest pain, the CHP reported, and was to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.
