Corona Congressman Announces Bid For 42nd District

The 42nd District includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar.

Monday, Congressman Ken Calvert, R-Corona, announced his intention to seek election to the 42nd Congressional District in 2012.

-- as finalized Monday by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission -- includes the cities of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Eastvale, Norco, Corona, Canyon Lake, Menifee, Murrieta and a portion of Temecula.

First elected to Congress in 1992, Calvert, 58, currently serves the 44th Congressional District.

"The largest city in the 42nd District is my hometown of Corona and I have had the pleasure of representing all of the communities in the district at one time or another during my time in public service," Rep. Calvert said in an emailed statement.

"I am honored to represent my constituents in the House of Representatives and I look forward to asking for their vote once again next year."

The 42nd District also includes the unincorporated ares of El Sobrante, Woodcrest, Temescal Valley, Lakeview, Nuevo, Homeland, Winchester and Aguanga.
