California Gov. Jerry Brown signed and vetoed a slew of gun-control bills Friday. In total, 18 passed the governor's desk, with 11 being signed into law and seven getting vetoed.
Do you agree with the signings and the vetoes? For example, Brown vetoed SB 374 (Steinberg, D-Sacramento), a bill that would have added all semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines to the state's list of banned assault weapons. He also vetoed SB 567 (Jackson, D-Santa Barbara), legislation that would have updated the definition of an illegal shotgun to include shotguns with revolving cylinders and rifled bores.
All 18 bills were from Democratic lawmakers, with the exception of one: SB 127 (Gaines, R-Rocklin). The bill requires that psychotherapists and law enforcement agencies report serious threats of violence made by citizens. The bill was signed by the governor.
