It's Official: Lake Elsinore Is 320 Acres Bigger

The 3rd Street Annexation has been finalized.

This city of Lake Elsinore officially expanded by 320 acres.

On Sept. 22, the acreage generally bordered by Central Ave./SR 74 to the southwest, Waterford Street to the west, Dexter Avenue to the northeast, and Interstate 15, was officially annexed into the city from the County of Riverside.

“On behalf of City residents and the City Council, the City of Lake Elsinore proudly welcomes 3rd Street Annexation area residents, businesses, and property owners to the City,” read a statement from city officials today.

The annexation area includes approximately 95 homes and more than 300 residents. Existing development includes a mix of retail, single-family homes, mobile homes, trailers, storage facilities and a recreation vehicle park.

Prior to the annexation, the area had been within Lake Elsinore's "sphere of influence," but now the acreage is officially within the city limits.

Within two weeks, all of the existing street signs in the area will be replaced by new city of Lake Elsinore street signs, according to today’s statement.

Lake Elsinore City Council unanimously voted to approve the annexation earlier this year (click here to read that story), following a recommendation by the planning commission (click here to read that story).

The annexation also required county approval.
