June 5 Primary Election: Who Is Running?

Time is ticking! Anyone interested in running for an office on the June 5 primary election ballot must file papers for candidacy by March 9 at 5 p.m.

The races are shaping up for the June Primary, and the list of candidates has grown:

As of March 7, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters published the following updated candidates’ list for the 67th State Assembly District (which includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar):

William T. Akana (R)

Ken Dickson, (R), Murrieta Valley Unified School District board member

Bob Magee, (R), Lake Elsinore City Council member

Melissa Melendez, (R), Lake Elsinore City Council member

Phil Paule, (R), District Director for U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa

NOTE: The race for the 67th State Assembly District currently includes an all-Republican field. According to a March 8 update list from the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, the 67th has 87,824 registered Republican voters; 54,630 registered Democrats; 36,344 who have registered with no political preference; and 6,389 registered American Independents. Registered voters in other political parties number fewer than 3,000 total in the 67th.

As of March 7, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters published the following updated candidates’ list for the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, 1st District (which includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar; candidates are not required to state a political party affiliation for this seat):
