LAKE ELSINORE CITY COUNCIL VOTERS BEWARE On October 11, 2012, Michel Knight, owner of Trevi Entertainment Center, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing funds under a false name. Knight’s conviction was the result of his illegal and unethical activities in a 2010 recall of a Lake Elsinore City Councilman who stood firm in requiring Knight to correct numerous building & safety and fire code violations at Trevi Entertainment Center. Also convicted in the recall was Enelida Caron an employee of Michel Knight. Caron testified that Steve Manos, a 2010 recall candidate, met with Knight 20 -25 times concerning the recall election.1) Manos also was the only recall candidate to support the illegal recall which cost taxpayers $50,000. Michel Knight will start to service his jail sentence in January 2013. Now, Steve Manos is running yet again for City Council along with William Park a former employee of Michel Knight. Park and Manos are also the only candidates who failed to file the required campaign finance reports.2) What are they hiding? Voters should reject Manos and Park as these two candidates are obviously under the control of outside greedy business interests. Their potential corrupting influence on city business would be devastating to our beautiful and improving community. 1) The Press Enterprise, May 26, 2011, page A12. 2)The Press Enterprise, October 24, 2012, page A3.

Phil Paul works for Congressman Daryl Issa who has serious ethical issues. CREW (Committee for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington) a non-profit wathdog agency has Issa regularly on its list of the worst offenders. You know what they say, "if you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas." Phil Paul also supports Prop 32 which is funded by super wealthy oil men the Koch Brothers in an attempt to muzzle unions which provide living wages and dignity in the workplace for millions of working families. Now why do support Paul?
Antonio November 07, 2012 at 05:00 AM
LE Resident, you didn't articulate the reasons you support Paul. You do have some reasons don't you?

It's time to bring new blood to Lake Elsinore , so tired of seeing the same names on the ballots year after year. It's apparent the revolving council we have are not accomplishing anything.

If 100% of the precincts have been tallied, why do we need an update next Tuesday...unless the approximate 100,000 outstanding ballots are outside of these precincts?

The ballots from all precincts are in. There are those few remaining mail-in ballots that must still be counted. The provisional ballots are those in which a voter cast a ballot at a polling place outside his or her polling area. For example, if you live in Lake Elsinore but were in Palm Springs when you cast your ballot. The Registrar has told us those provisional ballots will take up to two weeks from the Nov. 6 date to count. The damaged ballots are not expected to take quite as long -- she hopes. The Registrar has until Dec. 4 to certify the final results. Requests for recounts must come within five days of the certification. If the Supervisor race gets closer, or Measure Z gets closer, I don't think a request for recount is out of the question.

The win for Kevin Jeffries is not official. He still has the lead, but the Registrar has about 85,000 outstanding ballots to count (as of Saturday evening). The final results will still have to be certified (Dec. 4 is the deadline). There may be requests for recounts, but those must be received by the Registrar's office within five days of that Dec. 4 date. I will keep updating this results page, but you can also visit the Registrar's site at www.voteinfo.net

While it is true that close counts often don't change the ultimate results, it is premature to say that Kevin Jeffries or Bob Cashman have won their election or that Measure "Z" has passed, because as of the latest update, there remained 69,000 ballots that had yet to be processed. Approximately 60,000 provisional and 9,000 damaged ballots that require duplication still must be processed. The next updated results will be posted at 6pm on Friday.
