Lake Elsinore Businesses Catch A Break On Fees

The business fee waiver takes effect today and goes through Jan. 31, 2012; the design review waiver also begins today and remains in effect through the end of this year.

Lake Elsinore businesses are getting a fee break through the holidays.

During its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night, City Council voted 4-1 to waive fees for business license renewals, new business licenses, and minor design reviews.

The business fee waiver takes effect today and goes through Jan. 31, 2012; the design review waiver also begins today and remains in effect through the end of this year.

Councilman Peter Weber was the dissenting vote – he argued the city can’t afford to lose revenue.

A similar holiday fee waiver was in effect last year. According to city staff, 71 businesses took advantage of the $72 incentive.

City Manager Bob Brady said Councilwoman Melissa Melendez asked staff to revisit the fee waiver for 2011.
