Lake Elsinore Residents Facing Eviction Can Get Help

Riverside County will help those who can prove they lived or worked locally, as long as they meet other criteria.

A program started by Riverside County seeks to help local residents who find themselves in dire straits financially and are facing eviction proceedings.

The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program defines the homeless as those who are residing in emergency shelters or transitional shelter for less than six months or living on the streets, according to literature provided by the county.

Those who are homeless must provide documentation of homelessness and householders facing immediate homelessness must have a three-day Pay or Quit Notice, officials said.

Victims of domestic violence are also eligible for assistance under HPRP.

However, even if homeless or threatened by imminent homelessness, an applicant must have some sort of income, as well as the ability to become self-sufficient in the foreseen future, officials said.
