During the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at the Lake Elsinore Cultural Center, council members will consider the “3rd Street Annexation” The annexation area is bordered by SR 74 to the north and Interstate 15 to the west (see attached map).

Council members will also consider updating the Lake Elsinore zoning code to include a new mixed-use designation. Currently, the proposed annexation project calls for combining some commercial and residential uses within the proposed 320-acre annexation area.

The annexation is not without controversy. During the March 20 Lake Elsinore Planning Commission meeting, some rural residents who live in the proposed annexation area turned out to protest the new zoning that could see more housing tracts creep closer into their neighborhoods. Tuesday night’s City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Click here for the full agenda.
