Local Political Lineups Take Shape

According to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters office, potential candidates for the 2012 races have until March 9 to file.

As a reminder, four candidates running in the 67th California Assembly District race are scheduled to debate the issues Friday night during a forum to be hosted by the Southwest Conservative Republicans.

The newly redrawn 67th Assembly District encompasses Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Murrieta, Menifee, Winchester and parts of Hemet.

According to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters office, potential candidates for the 2012 races have until March 9 to file.

In addition to the 67th Assembly District race, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, 1st District (which includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar), contest is expected to be closely watched. Here is the latest list of candidates who have filed to run (candidates are not required to state a political party affiliation for this seat):

Bob Buster, Incumbent Supervisor

Kevin Jeffries, Assemblyman, 66th District

Mike Soubirous

Another local contest that’s expected to get significant attention is the U.S. Representative 42nd Congressional District race (which includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar). The list of candidates is long and contains a significant number of Democrats in the pack. To date, here are the contenders:
