Marijuana Dispensary Opens In Wildomar

According to the website WeedMaps Media Inc., the name of the dispensary operating out of the Frederick Street address is Green Thumb Connoisseurs.

A marijuana dispensary that has opened shop in Wildomar is not operating legally and will be forced to shut down, according to a city official.

The dispensary, which opened at 34859 Frederick Street, #108, has not registered with the city, nor has it filed for any permits, despite some construction inside the facility, according to Wildomar City Manager Gary Nordquist.

Nordquist said power is being cut off at the facility at the city’s request because the operator has been contacted by code enforcement yet is ignoring city requirements to file the appropriate paperwork.

“We would do this with any business that does not follow the proper procedures,” Nordquist said, noting that he does not have confirmation as to what kind of operation is being run out of the facility because there has been no application filed.

Even if an application were filed, it would be denied if the operator specified the business activity dealt with marijuana. Wildomar bans pot storefronts inside its city limits.

Patch visited the facility Wednesday night, but was not let inside the building. An unidentified man wearing a dark-colored uniform and badge peeked through the door and said he would not comment. The front windows of the facility were completely blacked out and there was no business name on the storefront.

According to the website WeedMaps Media Inc., the name of the dispensary operating out of the Frederick Street address is Green Thumb Connoisseurs. The group does have a website advertising itself as a non-profit medical marijuana delivery service based in the City of Riverside.

Although the City of Wildomar bans storefront medical marijuana dispensaries, it currently has no ordinance specifically banning mobile pot services.

During Wednesday night’s Wildomar City Council meeting, City Attorney Tom Jex said he is eyeing the City of Riverside’s current efforts to ban mobile marijuana operators and will be forwarding any updates to Wildomar officials.

According to Jex, Riverside has seen an increase in the number of mobile pot operators following a recent state Supreme Court opinion that ruled local jurisdictions can ban medical marijuana dispensaries. That decision stemmed from a lower court case, City of Riverside vs. Inland Empire Patient's Health and Wellness Center.
