Mayor Benoit Appointed to South Coast Air Quality Management District Board

The mayor will replace city of Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge.

On Monday November 19, 2012 City of Wildomar’s Mayor Ben Benoit was selected by the Riverside County City Selection Committee to serve on the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Board of Directors. Mayors of over twenty Riverside County cities chose Mayor Benoit to fill the unexpired seat left vacant by the retirement of City of Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge.   

AQMD is the air pollution control agency for all of Orange County and the urban portions of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, the smoggiest region of the U.S. AQMD states that they are committed to protecting the health of residents, while remaining sensitive to businesses.

Mayor Benoit commented, “I am honored and humbled to have been selected by my fellow Mayors to serve in this position. I will be replacing the Honorable, Mayor Loveridge in representing our Riverside County Cities on SCAQMD, a position he has held since 1995.”

Mayor Benoit went on to say, “To all my fellow Mayors and Council colleagues across our County, many thanks. My door is always open to any and all of your concerns or ideas regarding SCAQMD going forward.”

When Mayor Benoit is sworn in to his new SCAQMD Director position in early February he will go on to represent and help shape air quality policy for Riverside County which is roughly the size of the State of New Jersey.
