OPPORTUNITY: Wildomar Seeks Planning Commission Candidates

For those who may want a seat on the Wildomar Planning Commission, the city has a few ground rules.

The City of Wildomar is looking to appoint two planning commissioners and residents are invited to apply for the posts.

The five-member planning commission guides development in the city by voting for or against projects based on codes set forth

Planning commissioners are appointed by council members, and commissioners’ terms run concurrent with their appointing council members, explained Wildomar City Clerk Debbie Lee. As such, two planning commissioners -- Bob Devine and Harv Dykstra -- are currently affected. They were appointed by Wildomar City Council members Bob Cashman and Bridgette Moore, respectively. Even though Cashman and Moore have had no break in their service to the city, they are now in their second term after winning reelection Nov. 6.

“It is the same for the commissioners, their term has ended,” Lee explained. “Neither of the commissioners has resigned, [but] their terms have expired and therefore we must advertise for these seats.

“Bob and Harv are part of the inaugural planning commission and are the only two remaining from the initial five,” Lee added. “They were officially sworn in on November 19, 2008.”

Devine and Dykstra may be reappointed, or replacements may get the nod instead. Regardless, it will be up to Moore and Cashman -- they will make the appointments.
