Riverside County, Church Volunteers Team Up to Clean Lakeland Village

The effort to spruce up Grand Avenue was sponsored by Supervisor Bob Buster.

This past week, several volunteers from a local church and Riverside County transportation department workers spent days clearing weeds and picking up litter in Lakeland Village.

About 20 members of the Ministerio Puerta Del Cielo joined the Riverside County employees and some work-release inmates to clean Grand Avenue Saturday through Tuesday.

“We see this as a good opportunity for our members to come out from behind the four walls of the church and help our communities,” said Emma Vasquez, secretary of the church.

Supervisor Bob Buster sponsored the cleanup, and thanked the participants and praised the church members for their commitment to improving the quality of life in Lakeland Village.

“They really put a lot of heart and soul into the work they do and their dedication really shines through,” Buster said.

Thank you for doin this, we definitely need it. I have been emailing the graffiti people to clean up a few places, but haven't seen any done yet. I pick up trash when I go for walks around my neighbourhood. If all the people I see walking would do the same, it would loom a lot better. Once again thank you for what you are doing.

It requires a strong back to run a weed whacker ,if you own one. This is where our children walk to school. Thank you Mr. Buster for trying to get this hard job completed.
