Riverside County's War Dead Nine Years Later

The Iraq conflict claimed dozens of servicemen and women who hailed from Riverside County, including several who called Lake Elsinore and Wildomar home.

Nearly nine years after the Iraq war began March 20, 2003, the last U.S. troops pulled out of that country Sunday.

While the war in Afghanistan continues and loss of life rages on, according to www.icasualties.org, 4,484 American lives were lost in the Iraq conflict known as Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Using the Los Angeles Times "California's War Dead," here is the count of American service men and women who hailed from Riverside County but never made it home from Iraq.
