Temecula's Economy On The Rebound, City Says

An Oct. 25 news release from the city indicates sales tax receipts are up compared to last year.

The following is a news release from the City of Temecula:

The City of Temecula is pleased to report that sales tax receipts for the second quarter (April –June) of 2012 show a 9.9 percent increase compared to the same period one year ago. Genie Wilson, Chief Financial Officer, stated, “This increase is due to business and industry receipts that were much stronger than a year ago.  In addition, strong sales in the auto and transportation sector also played a key factor in this reported increase”.

Mayor Chuck Washington added, “The City is very pleased with this sales tax report as it demonstrates that the local economy is continuing to recover”.

Statewide, sales tax receipts increased by 7.5 percent.

MaryAnne (Waking on Temecula Residents and Sunshine). you make it highly apparent that you stick up for your colleagues on the Temecula City Council. As a citizen it wil be super if just one of you would stand up to the other members of the Temecula city council. Instead, you work hard on the patch to protect your 5-0 vote. Even if someone else won you would still have a 4-1 vote. Why are you so afraid that someone else will come in to your city council world with a fresh perspective?

Trying to change her mind is a waste of time. She is part of the problem and will NEVER be a part of the solution nor care about the mess that she has left in her wake. She will be dealt with soon enough. She can enjoy her last term on the council for now. We will see how tall she stands when she is packing her box.

"November 6th, 2007 The city council voted to not reappoint Jacobs to the traffic commission, though he applied for reappointment. In the history of Temecula, a commissioner has never failed to be reappointed except in this case. Why? Jacobs was divisive , arrogant, and use his platform on the commission to advance his liberal agenda. No one could work with him.. Staff and other memebers begged the city council to not reappoint him. I was there, and history was made. For the first time ever a sitting commissiner was booted off. Somone needs to put this in a mailer!" This is a great example of the "CLUB" if you're not part of it, then you're out. Textbook example of a corrupt city government. Paul wouldn't play the game so you sent him home... Well... I believe that this Council and their czars are the ones that need to be sent home.
